So one thing that sticks to my mind, is the orginal "IQ" test. The orginal test was made to see who needed more help in education, and now it is used to see who is "smarter" or more apt at certain subjects. This is not how education should be.

service II and timeline two
while i was coming back from service i was thinking, wow these kids are really smart. and why would i like would i be able to help them? while thinking about this i was reminded about the second time i wanted to be a teacher.
by loving kids, and helping them learn to love themselves.
well, i forgot to actually mention the fact that My Time Line momnet, was that, while i was helping the kids at service, i had a flashback with my 6th grade teacher.
he was talking about angles, where he had said that think of angles of some pie, or cake. he was relating angles to our tastebuds. which was a great way for me to understand my actual knowledge of angles. i took that idea and applied it the FATIMA kids, i said well when your biased you only see one side, so i related it to music.
by doing this i actually rememebered one of the first times i really liked teachers, and how they could actually makes kids want to learn.

all about me :)
1. Elizabeth, I'm from Wickliffe Ohio, and i use the John Carroll email.. so esangdahl13
2. I like to be called Elizabeth, but Liz works....
3. Hopefully Id like to teach high school math, but we'll see.
4. I'm a nosey, but in a good way person, I'll try and help whoever, which helps with my tutoring jobs, and such...
5. I don't much of anything, just myself.
6. I tend to be very opinionated, and ask questions, and usually, Id learn best with hands on.
7. There isn't really anything special about me, or my learning style that is that important.
8. I think there might be a moment in school where i realized that school should be taken seriously, and i should put more effort in everything, and that's when I was in 5th grade, where I got all A's with the minimal effort I was putting in, but I saw how happy everyone else was.
9. With the education system now, we have teachers who for some reason, aren't doing their 100% at all times, they just barely teach the students, and then get upset when the students don't do well. That is my main concern with the educational system at this time.
10. We need to study how society views teachers, and how that effects how the teachers work, for example, most people think teachers are just glorified babysitters, which in most cases that's what they become. Lets try and change that.

Service
My first day at service, was a blast. I noticed right away, that this wasn't my "type" of crowd. Which is fine, but i realized that i could not bring my baggage with me. I had to be completely open, and ready to handle whatever the kids i was tutoring were going to throw out at me. Even though i felt a little uncomfortable, I was pleasantly surprised to find out the girl i was going to help with science was really interested in becoming a lawyer, which is fantastic, she also at 17 has written 2! books. She told me that she wouldn't want to publish them yet, that they were hers for now. I cant wait to go back, next week.
